The materials are unloaded to a separate storage area, where the screening lines are located. The peat then passes over a number of “star wheel” screens and is screened into many different grades. Every screen has a row of axles with rubber star wheels. It is the distance between these wheels and the speed of rotation that helps determine the screening grade. The coarsest peat is carried over to the “cutters” where it is cut and shredded into smaller pieces. |
