The raw material for the peat production is harvested from large, raised bog areas which have developed under favourable climatic conditions.
This is the growing place of sphagnum mosses and throughout the ages, the remains of these mosses have been deposited into thick layers.
In the upper layer of the bog you find the light, almost undecomposed sphagnum.
The older peat, which is found in deeper layers of the bog, is darker with less structure.
Sphagnum peat provides an excellent base for substrates and results in the quality growth of plants.
